Biography

An Egyptian Shāfiʿī scholar who studied in Cairo with Shams al-Dīn b. Aḥmad al-Shirbīnī (d. 977/1570). He travelled in the Sudan visiting Sinnār and Arbajī (the latter in 1684) before settling at Berber where he died leaving a family. Among his students were Ibrāhīm al-Faraḍī (q.v.) and Shaykh Juwayda (q.v.).
