Biography

A descendant of Muḥammad Fāḍil (brother of the celebrated Māʾ al-ʿAynayn), whose descendants established the so-called Fāḍiliyya ṭarīqa based on his teachings, Muḥammad Shams al-Dīn’s father Sh. Maḥfūẓ settled in Senegal and founded two villages named Dār al-Khayr about 20 km. from each other in Casamance.
