Wadai
(93 words)

1. Taʾrīkh al-sulṭān ʿAbd al-Karīm.

On ʿAbd al-Karīm, the reputed founder of the Wadai Sultanate. MS: Khartoum (NRO), Collection of Aḥmad al-Muʿtaṣim al-Shaykh, no. 184.

2. “A passage from a native chronicle of Wadai”.

Transl. in Palmer (1928), ii, 24-28.

This appears to be a translation of a written record of what is probably an orally transmitted account of the origin of the Wadai Sultanate. It is possible that the original Arabic text will be found among H.R. Palmer’s papers at Jos in Nigeria.
