The Shadow of Environmental Pollution in China
(6,219 words)

Controlling and preventing environmental pollution are the most important elements of China's environmental protection efforts. These efforts started in the 1970s with efforts to control industrial pollution.

There are seven types of environmental pollution in China: pollution of the air, sea, fresh water, and soil, as well as pollution from solid waste, excessive noise, and radiation. Of these problems, air pollution, both types of water pollution and problems arising from increasing volumes of solid waste are the most serious.
