In this letter, Shub-ram (cf. A.1610+ [4.63]), wrote to Zimri-Lim to update him about a legal dispute over the city of Shunhum. The problem was that Ili-Eshtar of Shuna claimed the city, but Ili-Addu had seized control of it. This dispute was to be resolved by the River ordeal. Then, after the ordeal, Haya-Sumu would award the city to the rightful owner. Zimri-Lim had established Haya-Sumu as a close ally in the upper Habur; in fact, Zimri-Lim had married two daughters to Haya-Sumu (cf. ARM 10.5 [4.61]). Yet Shub-ram reporte…
