Commentary

This inscription stands on the “Royal Buttress,” accompanying the sculptures of that monument: in the center the author Yariri leading the young ruler Kamani, followed on the right by rows of children in two registers and a nurse holding a baby and leading an animal; and round the corner to the left, a row of beardless armed guards. The figures of Kamani, Yariri, the children and the baby are identified by name in adjoining epigraphs.
