Abstract
Christian Greek vocabulary refers to the specialized lexicon of early Greek Christianity. Its main source is Hellenistic Greek vocabulary, from which it imports many philosophical, civil and general terms, many of which undergo a semantic shift. Other sources of Christian Greek vocabulary are newly coined words (neologisms) and borrowings, mostly Hebrew and Aramaic words that entered Greek through the translations of biblical texts (the Septuagint or LXX).
