The southernmost town in the 'Omān Sultanate, situated in 'Omān Proper, 20 to 25 miles soutli-south-west, of Manah . To the northward is open country, without human inhabitants, sloping gradually down towards Adam; on the southward the Ruba'-al-Khāli begins immediately outside the town. The road from Manah , as it approaches Adam, passes between two arid hills of considerable elevation, namely Jabal Salakh سلخ on the west, and Jabal Madhmār مضمار on the east.
