1 [15c] In brief, after reorganizing the army and equipping it for travel and battle, the sublime banners were raised the following year for Nishapur. The shah ordered every trooper to carry one man (weight) of cast iron. At Nishapur they were to hand these ingots over to royal artisans so that they could fabricate siege mortars which would then reduce the enemy’s defense-works to rubble.
