Biography:

Socrates is a grammarian of unknown date; Gudeman (Sokrates [n. 3], RE 3A 1 [1927], 804-810) wrongly identified him with the writer Socrates of Argos1.

Socrates was the author of Names of the gods (Ἐπικλήσεις τῶν θεῶν), in at least twelve books, and perhaps On boundaries…
